chicken & dumplings

Boiled chicken in chicken broth, cooked with dumpling noodles - Homemade -

Ingredients
Broth - 4-6 pcs. chicken, boiled until tender
1/4 stick butter or margarine
salt & pepper to taste
3 cup milk
Dumplings - 1 cup flour
2 Tbls. Shortening
cold water

Directions
Broth - Boil chicken in a pot of water flavored with butter and salt to taste. De-bone chicken and add to the broth. Add 1/4 stick of margarine, 3 cups of milk and salt and pepper to taste.
Dumplings - Mix flour, shortening, and enough cold water to make a hard dough. Roll dough out very thin. Cut into strips of dough and add 2 to 3 strips of dough to broth at a time. The heat should be on medium low-medium high. Continue adding dough until the dough is gone. Cook an additional 5 mins. or until dumplings are tender.
