Ingredients
All measurements and weights are approximated
1 ½ - 2 lbs. Cube Steak
1-2 can(s) Golden mushroom soup
1 32oz. carton of Beef broth
1 large sweet onion (chopped)
1-1 ½ cup(s) of all purpose flour (for dredging steak and gravy base)
Milk (for gravy)
Oil (for frying steak)
*Salt (to taste)
*Pepper
*Garlic powder
*Onion powder
* Old Bay seasoning (optional)
Directions
*Hint: Use a disposable liner in your slow cooker for easy and fast clean-up!
In cooker combine ½ of the broth, soup and onion. Cover and set desired time. Meanwhile, combine flour, salt and other seasonings, to taste, in a bowl to dredge the steak in. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat, using enough cooking oil to coat the entire surface. Prep steak by cutting pieces to desired size and dredge steak through the flour mixture. Brown steak (approx. 3 minutes each side). Place in cooker. Be sure to save the drippings for the gravy. Reduce heat to medium low. Now add leftover flour mixture to the skillet with the drippings. Allow the flour to brown slightly. Slowly add milk and stir until you reach a nice consistency. I also add some beef broth to the gravy mixture. Pour gravy over the steak and cook 5 to 6 hours or until the steak is fork tender. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes! Any remaining broth and/or soup may be used to replenish liquids during the cooking process.
