How to Fry a Perfect Egg
Master the art of egg frying with these simple steps.
What You'll Need:
Nonstick skillet
Butter, cooking oil (i.e., olive oil), or cooking spray
Eggs
Spatula
Salt and black pepper
Getting Started:
Warm a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Melt butter, heat cooking oil, or spray for 2-3 minutes.
Next, decide how you want your egg. The type of egg helps determine cooking time.
Sunny-side-up: If you're looking for an ooey-gooey yolk, this style is your best bet. And you don't need to flip it! Crack the egg and cook 2-3 minutes. Once the egg white is set, slide the sunny-side-up egg onto a plate.
Over Easy: This style requires a flip, but still keeps the yolk runny. Crack the egg and cook 2-3 minutes on the first side until the egg white is set. Then, flip and cook about 30 seconds more before transferring to a plate.
Over Hard: No runny yolks? No problem. For this style, the egg is cooked on both sides until the egg white and yolk are set. Crack the egg and cook 2-3 minutes on the first side, then flip and cook 2 minutes more. Remove to a plate.
